Many textbooks on aircraft propulsion have been published, and it is hard to see how authors can find a way to make their contribution unique. This book covers the evolution range of aerospace propulsion from the earliest times, long before it was 'aerospace'. As with other offerings this aim is challenging for a single, relatively small (519 page), volume. That said I believe that this book largely meets its objective in a number of ways. Where the reader needs more coverage there is usually sufficient extra material to be found with the aid of the Internet.
