The field of multidisciplinary design optimisation is a rapidly growing one of keen interest to all the world's aerospace companies. Therefore during a recent very large EU-funded research programme known as VIVACE (Value Improvement through a Virtual Aeronautical Collaborative Enterprise) a considerable range of activity in this area was carried out - this book summarises that work. This inevitably means that the book takes the form of a series of somewhat independent articles, each by differing members of the VIVACE consortium. Moreover, the coverage, expertise and methods of choice encompassed by the book do not therefore represent a systematic review of this field of work -for that readers will have to await the upcoming
