This year brought advances in many different areas of propellants and combustion. Active combustion control for waste incineration applications has been implemented at the Naval Air Warfare Center. This activity uses combustion in coherent spanwise vortices generated by acoustic forcing of the central airflow of an annular diffusion flame. The circumferential fuel injection can also be modulated.
