One of the many great privileges of being President of the Society is the opportunity to visit some of the amazing businesses that make up our industry, to see at first hand their facilities and meet with the professionals who make it all happen. At British Airways, historic and, in some cases, listed buildings have been carefully transformed to combine engineering and operations, bringing in the training that once took place at Cranebank. It is easy to forget that British Airways is a large employer of high-grade skills and a very significant contributor to the prosperity of the Capital and, while air travel may have become an unremarkable regular part of most peoples' lives, we should still remember the incredible professionalism of the people that make it happen every day.
