On Sunday, 19 June, RAF Cosford hosted its annual air show, welcoming more than 50,000 visitors and was a superb showcase for the Service. The air show included interactive ground displays and thrilling flying from a diverse array of aircraft, including the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and, for the first time, G-GWFT from the Society's Build-a-Plane Challenge. The key themes of the show were speed, training and the 75th anniversary of the Air Cadet Organisation. The celebration of speed was an opportunity to showcase the development of the jet engine, as well as marking the 75th anniversary of the inaugural flight of Britain's first jet-powered aircraft. The other key theme that spanned the day was the recognition of the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with two hangars given to a crowd-pleasing series of interactive exhibits and displays.
