To prepare for the rigours of the long-endurance flights, Bertrand and Andre have been conducting a series of virtual flying experiences. In May 2008, a flight simulator fitted with five projection screens was developed in collaboration with Dassault and EPFL which enabled both pilots to 'fly' in the virtual HB-SIA for 25 hours, wearing the equipment needed for real flights, including helmet, safety harness, parachute, oxygen mask, food and accessories for natural needs.
