The US General Accountability Office (GAO) has produced another informative and challenging report, this time about the Unmanned Carrier-based Aircraft System (UCLASS). The UCLASS $147bn demonstrator, the Northrop Grumman X-47B, has already operated off a carrier and recently autonomously refuelled from a tanker aircraft - a key requirement for offensive operations in any environment, and one which has the potential to create an effective offensive system.
