As AI went to press, Boeing has begun a series of special test flights of the currently grounded 787 Dreamliner in an attempt to determine the cause of a number of battery fires on 787s operated by two Japanese commercial carriers. Having been granted a special airworthiness certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on 7 February, Boeing re-positioned a Dreamliner from Meachan Airport in Texas, where it had gone to be painted, to Everett in Washington State.
