German company Aeros has revealed plans for two new vertical take-off cargo airships. The company is proposing two sizes of rigid variable buoyancy air vehicles, the Aeroscraft ML886 and ML868 which could carry 66t and 250t payloads, respectively. Aeros tested a proof-of-concept vehicle in 2012 which, the company claims, could be used to resupply oil rigs and move wind turbines in remote regions.
