A SukhoiSuperjet regional aircraft on a promotional tour of Asia crashed into a mountain during a demonstration flight in Indonesia. The aircraft took off from Jakarta on 9 May with an estimated 45 passengers and crew but vanished from radar after descending from 10,000 to 6,000ft close to a 7,200ft mountain. Those aboard are believed to have included eight Russian pilots, journalists and representatives of Indonesian airlines. As Al went to press, searchers had discovered the wreckage of the aircraft but there are not believed to have been any survivors.
