As Aerospace International goes to press, we look forward to the usual summer trade exhibition later this month at Farnborough. With both Airbus and Boeing holding on to record backlogs, and forecasting a gradual ramp-up in production, the future, at least for the civil aerospace sector, seems secure. The relentless growth in passenger air traffic (doubling every 15 years) has in the past decade, shaken off 9/11, SARS and the 2008 financial crisis, bouncing back ever more strongly each time, and confounding the doomsayers.
