Despite all the brave-talk about robust recovery management and opportunities for investing in the future, the immediate prospects right across the sector look bleak, to put it mildly. Orders are being cancelled or deferred which translates into lost manufacturing jobs and airlines remain worried about how they are going to fill existing seats if customers stay at home, or do more of their business on line. Even the most tempting special fares are unlikely to encourage significantly more passengers if they are too cash-strapped to take them up.
