The forthcoming Paris Air Show is expected to be somewhat subdued compared to 2007. Two years ago, billions of dollar's worth of announcements flowed every day and the sector was struggling to cope with bursting order books as the biggest selling civil airliner backlogs stretched into four-figure totals, with deliveries extending well into the next decade. The chalet and stand talk at the show was all about how production output could be ramped up, while at the same time supply chains were running short of skilled personnel. Much of the best engineering graduate talent was being tempted away into the more lucrative financial services sector.
