Rolls-Royce is to conduct a joint research project with Boeing, RUAG Aerospace and Deharde Maschinenbau to look into the potential of open-rotor engine technology, Rolls-Royce will be providing propulsion design expertise, while Deharde will construct a model concept aircraft to Boeings design. The model will be tested at RUAG's low-speed wind tunnel in Emmen, Switzerland during 2010.
