After the departure of Asian Aerospace to Hong Kong, as a civil-only show, there was some uncertainty whether Singapore would be able to re-create such a major new show in just two years on a 'raw' site that had only just been reclaimed from the sea. There was no need to worry, however, for the resulting event was a triumph of vision and determination. The access arrangements were exemplary, with generous parking and taxi provision, and speedy reception facilities that eliminated the usual air show arrival queues. Greatly assisting security was the fact that the show area was surrounded by water, with well-guarded access. The exhibition halls and company chalets, supported by the world's leading aerospace and defence companies, were spacious and the air conditioning functioned perfecdy despite equatorial temperatures outside. There were large parking areas for static aircraft displays and the site even had a dedicated runway. There can be no doubt that this show will continue to develop alongside Paris and Farnborough as a key global trade show, especially as it is located in the world's fastest growing aerospace market.
