With the global financial services sector currently in turmoil, there is now a growing recognition of the value of keeping (and indeed strenghtening), the UK's manufacturing base. The success of Doncasters in transforming its Blaenavon facility should serve to remind decision-makers, investors and students seeking jobs that the UK's engineering heritage is still alive and well and can contribute to a future balanced, highly competitive British economy and aerospace sector. As David Jennings summarises: "As a company, we have invested to develop our market-leading competence and that is part of the plan that takes us forward."
