US military aircraft were well to the fore at Avalon, with large-scale USAF participation in both static and flying displays. In the Asia-Pacific market the latest multi-role version of the F-15, the impressively upgraded 'K' model, has just emerged, destined for Korea. With the Singapore fighter competition still wide open, Boeing and the US Government are not holding back on the promotion of this very formidable fighting machine. Boeing's other current combat type in production is the F-18E/F Super Hornet. The RAAF displayed one of its own 20-year-old F-18As in a smart celebratory blue and white colour scheme. Boeing would love to be able to sell the RAAF the latest F-18 E/F version to replace its F-111Cs and the existing F-18s, and was active promoting the merits of the new machine at Avalon.
