摘要

While all eyes are on BP and Kosmos Energy’s future gas production from the giant Grand Tortue-Ahmeyim (GTA) field straddling the Senegalese-Mauritanian border, Mauritania’s minister of petroleum Mohamed Ould Abdel Vetah is focused dealing with the issue of storage. Vetah will be hiring an advisory firm to run a check on all existing oil storage facilities and draw up a plan to cater to the country’s future needs. The oil minister would like to increase the number of storage facilities and upgrade existing sites. It is understood these will be managed under private public partnerships (PPP). Given the global coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Nouakchott government is well aware that finding financial backers will be no easy task.
