Louis-Marie Walle Lufungula, who was forced out of his position as governor for having refused to join the political alliance headed by President Félix Tshisekedi, has set up his own mining company with members of his family. After the constitutional court dismissed his plea to have the April revocation of his Tshopo governorship cancelled on 18 June, Louis-Marie Walle Lufungula bounced back just a few days later. On 22 June, he signed off the statutes of his new company, Grace Mining. The company, which he set up with members of his family, including his wife Bijou Kayko Bahati, a member of the Tshopo provincial assembly, and several of his children, will explore for minerals. One of his colleagues told Africa Intelligence that the plan to set up a venture predated the end of Walle Lufungula's tenure as governor but added that it had not yet been decided in which province Grace Mining would be working nor which minerals it would be prospecting for.
