According to our information, Bouygues Travaux Publics (BYTP), a subsidiary of the French conglomerate of the same name, is planning to sell its 19% stake in Socoprim, the company which manages Abidjan's Henri Konan Bedie Bridge. The French group wanted for a time to sell its stake to Egis, which has the concession to run Abidjan's international airport. This project had active backing from the office of prime minister Hamed Bakayoko but was fiercely opposed by the Ivorian presidency. The president has instructed infrastructure minister Amédée Kouakou to oversee the disposal of Bouygues' shares in Socoprim to the state. A first round of talks is due to begin in the autumn. The Ivorian government will also have to guarantee Socoprim's accumulated debt for construction of the bridge. A total of €270m remains outstanding on the €308m investment.
