According to our sources, both Savannah Energy and Sipex (Sonatrach's international subsidiary) will soon obtain a new eight-year contract to explore their respective licences in Niger. The draft production sharing contract (PSC) is expected to go before the council of ministers in the next few days. The two companies had only two years left before the expiry of their PSC and had expressed at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, at the end of 2019, their wish to be able to benefit from a few more years, which the hydrocarbon code does not allow.
