According to our sources, Congolese ministerrnof hydrocarbons, Aime Ngoy Mukena andrnthe deputy managing director of Sonahydrorn(ex-Cohydro) Louis-Gerard Vununu, arernexpected to travel to Texan consultancy firmrnFracgeo’s offices to pick up seismic data onrnthe Nganzi block (Bas-Congo). Sonahydro isrnlooking to promote its permit, which wasrnreturned by its operator Soco in 2013 ( AEIrn712), and get exploration back on track. Thernmain hold-up until now had been finding thern$400,000 requested by Fracgeo to completernits processing of the data accumulated byrnSoco on the permit. Congo’s previous primernminister Samy Badibanga was opposed tornthe transaction ( AEI 793) but hisrnsuccessor Bruno Tshibala, who arrived inrnApril 2017, and the appointment of a new oilrnadvisor within the president’s office (seernp. 8) may have helped with rebooting thernproject.
