Africa Energy Intelligence understands that a new government body to finance energy projects and dubbed the Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company (UECC) is to be launched by Kampala in August. The agency will primarily offer financial guarantees to enable local banks to lend money to private companies planning private generation projects. The projects in question will chiefly concern small hydro projects generating between 15-20 MW.
