When 4PLs tout the all-encompassing nature of their services, fire-fighting is unlikely to be on offer - yet a DHL courier in Australia did just that while he was on-duty last month. Andrew Reardon was finishing up his route and about to head home, when he noticed a grass fire, likely caused by a carelessly thrown cigarette, slowly moving up the hill beside his van in a residential area. Without hesitation, he pulled over, grabbed a fire extinguisher and doused the flames. Reardon says he acted primarily on instinct - but that internal company trainings were helpful.
