It's great to be back working in the Air Force and being part of the most professional work force in the world! Some of you know me from past assignments in the FM community, but for those of you that don't, my bio is posted at www.af.mil/ bios. I know the future is going to be full of exciting challenges as we move from IT solutions that are circa 1960 to state of the art technology that will make our working lives better. I'm excited about being involved in enabling that change and look forward to working with you to make it happen. Role of the Functional CIO and FMPT. As many of you know, one of the roles I was hired to fulfill is that of SAF/FM Chief Information Officer (CIO). In January 2002, the Air Force CIO established a governance structure for all the MAJCOMs and Functional organizations. As the FM functional CIO, I have the responsibility to ensure IT investments are made using sound management principles and based on documented requirements and needs.
