"The very existence of this airplane—your airplane—has altered the strategic landscape forever," said Robert J. Stevens, Lockheed Martin chairman and CEO, addressing production workers at the plant. Speaking to the audience gathered for the hand-off, Gen. Norton A. Schwartz, Air Force Chief of Staff, said advanced weapon systems such as the F-22 will "help shape the future security environment and not just respond to it."
