Embraer recently took its E190-E2 on an African tour, carrying out demonstrations for potential customers. The aircraft PR-ZGU (c 19020094) was displayed at Farnborough mid-July before its two-week tour that took in Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius and South Africa. Air Mauritius is apparently considering a variety of new regional aircraft. Embraer said it was marketing the aircraft to existing E-Jet customers who may want the more fuel efficient E2, and potential customers who have never operated the type. Embraer pointed out the African market is poised for growth and is expected to add 270 million passengers over the next 20 years for a total market of 400 million. Embraer has made inroads into Africa, tripling its continental fleet in 23 countries to 150 aircraft over the last decade. This was boosted by Mauritania Airlines' July order for two E175s.
