The Russian PD-14 turbofan engine, intended to power the Irkut MS-21 airliner starting in 2017, is currently undergoing testing. This represents the first new civil aircraft engine design in Russia for 30 years. The engine, designed by the Perm-based Aviadvigatel (Volga) and manufactured by the Perm Engine Company, will also be used for other unspecified aircraft designs.
