A blue-ice runway in the coldest, highest, windiest and remotest region on Earth is clearly not a typical environment for a Boeing 757 airliner configured with business-class seats. On November 26, however, a Loftleidir Icelandic 757-236 (TF-FIN, c 28989) touched down on the runway prepared on Union Glacier in the Ellsworth Mountains in West Antarctica - a most unusual sight, as the photos accompanying this feature show.
