Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan in Russia, was the venue for a meeting between the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) management and local authorities on March 10. On the agenda, resumption of production of the Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bomber at the Gorbunov Kazan Aircraft Plant (KAZ), where the aircraft was built during the Soviet era. President of UAC, Yuri Slyusar, and President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, signed a cooperation agreement to implement the plan. Yuri Slyusar said: "Resumption of Tu-160 production is a giant project, unprecedented in the post-Soviet history of our aircraft industry and is being implemented in cooperation with all leading firms of the Russian aircraft industry."
