The Kamov Ka-62 made its long-delayed maiden flight on April 28, 2016 from the factory airfield at the AAC Progress plant in the city of Arsenyev, in Russia's Far East region. Kamov Design Bureau's Chief Test Pilot, Vitaly Lebedev, was at the controls, together with co-pilot Nail Azin, another Kamov test pilot. The maiden flight of the first prototype, OP-1, took about ten minutes and comprised a hover with numerous banking and turning movements intended for controllability and stability assessment.
