The A350 XWB is the first Airbus type that has a higher percentage of composites than metallic parts: 53% of the airframe is made up of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). Titanium makes up 14% of the structure, steel 6% and other materials 8%. The proportion of CFRP in the forthcoming A350-1000 will be slightly higher. The cabin design features a high level of pressurisation, giving a lower cabin altitude (6,000ft), as well as higher humidity, air purification systems, 30% larger windows and LED lighting (with 16.7million different colour options). The combination is designed to improve the cabin environment for passengers.
