Despite a sedate pace of firm order bookings, together with delays and cost overruns on the development programme, Bombardier has always steadfastly maintained confidence that its new C Series would meet a long-held target of having 300 firm orders by the time of the first delivery. Bombardier has now met that target after securing a landmark deal from Delta Air Lines, worth up to $5.6 billion at list prices, for 75 CS100s and options on a further 50 examples. The order means there are now 325 firm orders for the C Series (128 CS100s and 197 of the larger CS300 variant). Deliveries to Delta, which will be the North American launch operator, are scheduled to begin in spring 2018.
