The first China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Company (CAIGA) AG600 amphibious aircraft was rolled out during a ceremony in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai on July 23. Development of the AG600 had initially been announced at the 2014 China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai. The aircraft is touted by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) as the largest amphibious aircraft in the world and is initially aimed at the domestic market. Orders for 17 aircraft have been placed by Chinese authorities, for use as emergency response platforms, including search and rescue, and aerial fire-fighting, cargo and passenger transport and maritime law enforcement missions.
