Between September 6 and 11, the city of Kubinka and the nearby air base, west of Moscow, was the venue for an international military technical forum organised by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. While the forum was open only to guests and delegates during the first three days, the last three days of the event were open to the general public. This year's event was the second of its kind, attracting over 500,000 visitors and 80 foreign delegations who were able to see the latest Russian military hardware and technology. The nearby Alabino range was used to display the firepower of Russian tanks, approximately 30 types of aircraft and helicopters in service with the Russian Air Force were on display at Kubinka Air Base.
