A team of engineers and pilots assigned to the 416th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, California are working with Norwegian Government and industry personnel to test the Joint Strike Missile (JSM). Manufactured by Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, the JSM is currently the only powered, anti-surface warfare missile designed for carriage in the F-35A Lightning IPs internal weapons bay. The 416th FLTS is performing risk-mitigation testing with the F-16 ahead of a full weapon integration test programme with the F-35A. According the the Air Force Test Center all captive carriage test missions are being flown over the Utah Test and Training Range.
