Airbus Helicopters says the first prototype H160 (PT1) has reached 175kts (324km/h) and an altitude of 10,000ft (3,048m) during its testing. The company added that a second prototype (PT2) "is progressing as per plan since its power on in June" and is scheduled to conduct its first flight by the end of the year. The Turbomeca Arrano engines that will power the helicopter in service will be installed and tested on the dedicated integration installation called the Dynamic Helicopter Zero before PT2 performs its first flight. Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, said: "We are in a good position to begin its commercialisation next year, with the end objective of having a fully mature product ready to be delivered in 2018." Airbus Helicopters displayed a H160 mock-up at Helitech in London in early October.
