The first of 15 Tornado IDSs upgraded under the Aeronautica Militare Italiana's (Italian Air Force) IT Basic Full MLU (RET 7) retrofit programme has been redelivered. The aircraft (MM7087, build number IS086) was handed over at Ghedi on December 20, 2010. RET 7 is part of the mid life upgrade of the fleet to ensure the type remains effective for the rest of its service career. An earlier contract, the First Upgrade project, was completed on 18 aircraft in 2006.
