On December 21, 2010, Alenia Aermacchi celebrated the official roll-out of the first two T-346s for the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (AMI, Italian Air Force). Part of an initial order for six signed in November 2009, which will be followed by nine more, the two aircraft will be assigned to the Reparto Sperimentale Volo (Flying Test Wing) at Pratica di Mare, to undergo operational tests and evaluation; acceptance is expected by mid April. A second batch of four aircraft will be delivered to the 61° Stormo at Lecce, the AMI's Jet Training Wing, between the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012.
