Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Moll) with Airbus for 180 Airbus A320s. The manufacturer has stated that the deal, worth over $16 billion, is the largest ever for commercial transport aircraft. Details of the contract were announced by Airbus on January 11, although it has yet to be finalised. The 180 airliners comprise 30 A320 and 150 A320neos, the improved re- engined variant due to be available by 2016. IndiGo became the first customer to place a commitment for the re-engined A320neo.
