The Northrop Grumman X-47B unmanned combat air system (UCAS) took flight for the first time on February 4, 2011, at Edwards AFB, California. The aircraft flew for 29 minutes, according to Capt Jaime Engdahl, the Navy's Program Manager for the UCAS Demonstration (UCAS-D) Program. The Maiden Flight of X-47B. Taking off at 2:09pm, the X-47B climbed to an altitude of 5,000ft (1,524m), flew several racetrack-type patterns, and landed safely at 2:38pm.
