摘要

A Royal Netherlands Navy (RNN) Westland SH-14D Lynx and its crew of three fell in to the hands of Libyan government forces on the evening of February 27. The helicopter was trying to evacuate two people, including a Dutch citizen and one with an undisclosed nationality, from a beach at the city of Sirte, on the northern coastline of Libya. The recovery mission was executed without permission from Libyan authorities. According to local press reports, the Lynx had already taken the evacuees onboard when it was surrounded by armed pro-Gaddafi forces that prevented it from taking off. Both civilians were handed over to the Dutch embassy in Tripoli and left Libya on March 2. The Lynx crew, including a female pilot, a navigator and a sensor operator, were taken into custody and remained in Libya for eleven days.
