Airbus Military announced on April 1 that it had handed over the first CASA C295 Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft to the Servicio de Aviacion de la Armada de Chile (Chilean Naval Air Service). It has entered service with VP-1 assigned to Fuerza Aeronaval N° 1 at Vina del Mar Air Base in Concon. The aircraft is equipped with the Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) mission suite manned by four operators, a search radar, acoustic system, magnetic anomaly detector, automatic identification system and has a night-vision goggles compatible cockpit. Two underwing hard points can carry a variety of ordnance.
