Dassault Mirage 2000N-K2 316/'116-AW of the Armee de I'Air (French Air Force) has been painted in a special scheme to mark the 95th anniversary of Escadron de Chasse 02/004 (EC2/4) 'La Fayette', resident at Base Aerienne 116 Luxeuil-St Saveur. The Lafayette Escadrille initially manned by American volunteers was deployed on April 16, 1916. Its traditions were adopted by Groupe de Chasse II/5 in World War Two and passed on to EC2/4 when it formed post war. It successively flew Republic P-47 Thunderbolts, de Havilland Vampires, Dassault Ouragons and Republic F-84F Thunderstreaks from 1957, acquiring Mirage IIIEs in 1966 and Mirage 2000NS in 1988.
