摘要

Norway has withdrawn its remaining four F-16s assigned to NATO operations over Libya, becoming the first country to set an end-date for its participation in Operation Unified Protector. The F-16s returned to their bases in Bode and 0rland on August 1 after flying approximately 2,000 hours, during which they dropped around 550 bombs during around 600 missions. Norway originally had six F-16s based at Souda Bay on Crete under a 90-day mandate, but withdrew two on June 24 as part of an earlier agreement to return all F-16s by the beginning of August. The deployment has been politically controversial in Norway and the return of the two early was part of a deal to maintain the Government's coalition.
