This year's Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon, or MAKS, was the tenth show of its kind. Dominated by the Russian aerospace industry, the event is a major regional aviation exhibition with more of the world's biggest aerospace companies in attendance each successive year. Two of today's most notable airliners, the A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, were both at the show for the first time. With 842 companies from 40 countries present, including 622 Russian firms, MAKS 2011 had the largest number of exhibitors in the show's history. More than 100 aircraft took part in the flying display with a further 241 (including many unmanned aerial vehicles) on static display - plenty for the 550,000 visitors to see.
