The first co-ordinated test evaluation and training between a Boeing P-8A Poseidon and US Navy warship was undertaken on September IB. The maritime patrol aircraft from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 20 (VX-20) worked with the gmded-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) off the east coast of the US. The warship directed the aircraft's activities for four hours while it determined the maximum target detection range of the AN/APY-10 radar, AN/ALQ-218 electronic support measures. Four P-8As have been delivered to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, while the final pair of trials aircraft are undergoing systems integration and certification at Boeing's facility at Puget Sound near Seattle, Washington. The aircraft is due to commence its initial operational test and evaluation in mid-2012.
