By early October Embraer had mated the wing and fuselage of the first prototype Embraer Legacy 500 midsize business jet, and systems installation was under way. Thesecondprototype'swingtraittng edge and other structural componerrts and systems were also being assembled, white the initial airframe components for the third aircraft were being finished. An 'iron bird' used for fly-by-wire trials has completed 1,400 hours of testing. To validate the final interior design and engineering, Embraer has built a full-scale cockpit and cabin mock-up, assembled with approximately 90% of actual aircraft components.
