Glorious weather and blue skies provided the right conditions for Adequate Response 2011; an exercise involving four tactical fighter units from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Povitryani Syly Zbroynykh Syl Ukrayiny - PSZU). The exercise scenarios were staged to test pilot combat readiness and in particular give inexperienced pilots the opportunity to develop and hone their skills. Held from September 12-30, Adequate Response 2011 was centred on Bei'bek AB near Sevastopol, home to the 204th Brigade Taktichnoyl Aviatsiyi (Tactical Aviation Brigade - BrTA). MiG-29 Fulcrums deployed to Bel'bek from air bases at Ivano-Frankivs'k, Vasyl'kiv and Zhytomyr-Ozerne and Su-27 Flankers from Myrgorod.
