Singapore Airlines announced in November its new low-cost subsidiary will be called Scoot, and will start operations next year. SIA announced earlier this year that it was preparing to launch a new low-cost carrier to fly long-haul services around Australasia. It will operate a fleet of four Boeing 777-200ERs purchased from SIA. The carrier said the fleet would grow to 16 by 2016, also flying to Europe and the Middle East.
